Oroton Great Barrier Reef Collaboration

FORWARD THINKING FASHION FOR A WORTHY CAUSE

This November, Oroton is collaborating once again with the Great Barrier Reef Foundation to safeguard the ocean and its marine life.

As part of its summer capsule launch, Oroton has designed two limited edition canvas and leather appliqué pouches inspired by the striking, serene beauty of the Great Barrier Reef.

Snap up a Coral Pouch from Oroton’s resort collection in celebration of Australia’s laidback summer season - all while helping the Great Barrier Reef Foundation carry out its important work.

In support of its efforts to protect the reefs from the ongoing threat of climate change, Oroton will donate 100% of profits from the sales of each Coral Pouch design directly to the Foundation.

“The Great Barrier Reef is such an inspiring and beautiful treasure, so to have a uniquely Australian brand like Oroton inspired to create a beautiful clutch that will benefit the Reef couldn’t be more perfect,” said Anna Marsden, Managing Director of the Foundation.

“It’s no secret that our Great Barrier Reef is facing more than its share of challenges right now,” Marsden added.

“The good news is some of the best and brightest minds in marine science are working on new and innovative ways to protect it. As the charity for the Great Barrier Reef, the Foundation is at the forefront of funding projects grounded in science, technology, engineering and on-ground action to ensure its long-term future.”

In 2016, the Foundation distributed more than $7 million to restoration efforts around the country, in addition to supporting deep, scientific research aimed at slowing or reversing the effects of climate change on the Reef.

This research has culminated in projects like the RangerBot, a self-driving underwater vehicle that targets harmful starfish, identifies coral bleaching and takes ocean temperatures for scientists to study.

In addition to research, the Foundation also supports major ecological restoration efforts, like the Raine Island Recovery Project, which is home to the largest green sea turtle rookery and seabird nesting site in the world.

“The funds raised through this partnership with Oroton will contribute to these and other pioneering projects the Foundation is developing to help keep the Reef great,” said Marsden.

Crafted from premium pebbled leather and canvas, with textures and colours that recall the Australian coast’s vibrant ecological history, each Coral Pouch provides Oroton customers with a fashion forward way to support the Great Barrier Reef and all it has to offer.

“We are proud to be working with the Great Barrier Reef Foundation for the second year running with the release of our limited-edition canvas pouches inspired by the beauty of the Reef,” said Oroton’s CEO Ross Lane.

“We continue to celebrate and support the preservation of this iconic landmark and are thrilled by the huge support the Oroton customer shows towards our collaborative collections with the Great Barrier Reef Foundation,” Lane continued.

But you’ll have to act fast - these roomy, oversized pouches made from organic fabrics won’t last. And the Great Barrier Reef Foundation needs your donation to ensure the striking beauty of the reef will last for many more summers to come.
